Self Introduction

My name is Qianyi Li, and feel free to call me Jenny. I've been living in San Francisco since 2010, and I originally came from China. I am currently a student at San Francisco State University double majoring in Industrial Design and Economics. In addition, I have a future plan of applying to graduate program of Architecture or HCI, haven't decided yet.

“There are 360 degrees, so why stick to one?”
                                                       – Zaha Hadid

I was very inspired by this quote, because I believe this applies to every details in life. There is always more than one way to do something, and I believe that our vision and imagination should not be limited, which is also the reason I chose Design! I also love the process of transforming your idea into a real project, and also helping others to solve problems through my knowledge and imagination. To me, it could be described as building my dream in the real world.

Another main influence is documentaries! Every different types of documentaries; nature, society, human, history, etc. Whenever I watch documentaries, I realize that we are infinitely tiny within this huge scheme of things, but meanwhile, I also feel more connected and attracted to all of these. I love learning these little interesting pieces that I would never know without these documentaries.

Especially in the recent decade, there are more and more environmental and ecological problems that are caused by our behaviors. So every time I am watching documentaries, I could not stop thinking how we are impacting the environment that we live in, and different steps that we could take to reduce the negative impact.

I am a person who live in the moment (or at least trying to do so), and I have tons of interests and hobbies. I enjoy spending time with animals, nature, and myself. I love my dog, my parakeet, and the backyard of plants and flowers. I love painting, baking, gardening, skateboarding, playing guitar and piano, traveling(really difficult during the COVID 19 pandemic), and reading.

I believe all these little pieces form who I am.

Innovative

Reliable
