Problem_Purpose Statements

Senior Degree Project
Instructor: Ricardo Gomes
1. Topic: Packaging Waste
Problem: Although the current packaging systems mostly use recyclable materials, the results still are not very efficient.
Purpose: I am interested in designing reusable packaging systems that might be able to be used more than many times, with not easy to damage features.
2. Topic: Environmental Issues
Problem: Global warming and other environmental issues are affecting us a lot, especially the animals and nature.
Purpose: I am interested in designing something that relates to environments, to increase the awareness of protecting our environments.
3. Topic: SFSU Parklet (from Proposal)
Problem: To promote a welcoming, lively, and pedestrian-friendly edge to campus.
Purpose: To create a permanent parklet in a street parking space on the edge of campus.
4. Topic: Felton Institute - Tech Support Program (from proposal)
Problem: The pandemic has enlarged the difficulty for elders to get access to tech support, and they are becoming increasingly more isolated.
Purpose: To create more resources to make it easier for elders to access tech support, and the first step is to create more accessible, visually-appealing resources such as videos, presentations, and pamphlets to show how to download Zoom on their devices and learn the basic features of Zoom.
5. Topic: Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center - Mobile Computer Lab
Purpose: To create a mobile computer lab that can easily be transported to/from our various classrooms while keeping accessibility in min

Self Introduction
My name is Qianyi Li, and feel free to call me Jenny. I've been living in San Francisco since 2010, and I originally came from China. I am currently a student at San Francisco State University double majoring in Industrial Design and Economics. In addition, I have a future plan of applying to graduate program of Architecture or HCI, haven't decided yet.
